Turn Draft

Rotate a Draft 90 degrees

Turning the draft swaps the threading and treadling, which can be useful when wanting to do a single shuttle weave when alternating colors are in the warp, or at times when a draft has more shafts than treadles, and by turning the weaver will require fewer shafts.

After turning the draft, the treadling becomes the threading (the pick becomes a threading on shaft 1, second pick on shaft 2, etc.). The threading becomes the treadling (shaft 1 to treadle 1, shaft 2 to treadle 2, etc.). The face of the tie-up is changed, and the bottom row of the tie-up becomes the first treadle (although with a change face), etc.

If the draft is turned again, it goes back to the original draft in the first picture.
