Marking and Editing Sections
Marking Sections in Warp or Weft for Assembly
Sections can be marked across any span of warp or weft threads. These marked sections are later used in Section Assembly to generate a new WIF file.
The Section Marker tool is located on the Design menu. This tool functions similarly to the selection tool; however, when you drag across threads, a section is recorded and highlighted in a distinct color for easy identification.
To enable the Section Marker tool, click the Section Marker icon on the Design menu or use the keyboard shortcut M.
The following example shows sections defined in both warp and weft. Colored areas represent defined sections, while areas with a white background are not included in any section.
The panel on the right is displayed only when the Section Assembly icon is selected. This panel may be closed and reopened at any time.
In this example, the default section names are shown at the top. Section names are assigned automatically in the order the sections are created, starting with Section 1, Section 2, and so on. These names can be easily renamed.
In the screenshot below, the Warp tab is selected, so only warp section names are displayed; weft section names are not shown.

A section’s location is defined by a range of thread numbers. In the screenshot above, Section 2 is a warp section (because the Warp tab is selected) and spans warp threads 4 through 25 (location 4–25).
If a mistake is made while drawing a section, it is usually easier to edit the location values than to redraw the section. This is demonstrated below in Editing a Section.
Editing a Section
A section may be edited in one of two ways:
Double-click the section name under Available Sections to rename the section or modify the From and Through thread location values. The section may also be deleted by selecting the Delete Section checkbox.
With the Section Marker tool selected, right-click the section in either warp or weft to open the Section Editor. Alternatively, select a section and press the Delete key to open the Section Editor, where the section can be deleted.

.
Renaming Sections and Groups
Any section or group may be renamed from its default name. When working with complex assemblies, using meaningful names is recommended to make it easier to read. To rename a section or group, simply type the new name.
Overlapping Sections
Overlapping sections are allowed. The marked color will change where there is an overlap.
In this example, section 2 is defined from warp thread 4 to 25. Section 6 has been drawn from thread 21 to 31. The green color of section 2 and the pink color of section 6 show with a combination color where they overlap.

Adjustments and Limits for Sections
The Insert and Remove Threads function can be to modify marked sections to add and remove threads. Other sections below will move accordingly and preserve their relative start and end thread. With the section being modified, you may need to change the start or end location in the section editor after modifying the number of threads in the section.
The maximum number of marked sections is 80 for warp and 80 for weft.
