Troubleshooting with Antivirus Software on Installation
On the September, 2025 release, certain customers using Norton Antivirus and Avast antivirus had issues installing. We have contacted Norton, as this should have not been flagged with our certificate. In the meantime, you should be able to follow this process.
NORTON:
To temporarily disable Norton Antivirus and firewall protection on your computer to install applications, do the following:
Locate the Norton icon: in the system tray (bottom-right corner of your screen, next to the clock). If you don't see it, click the up arrow to show hidden icons.
Right-click: the Norton icon to open a context menu.
Select: Disable Auto-Protect to turn off real-time virus scanning.
Select: Disable Smart Firewall if you also want to temporarily disable your firewall.
In the Security Request window, choose a duration from the dropdown list (e.g., 15 minutes, 1 hour, until the system restarts).
Click: OK to confirm and temporarily turn off Norton. Note: with some versions of Norton, you may also have to later release TempoWeave from quarantine. To release a file from Norton's quarantine, you need to access your Security History, find the TempoWeave, and choose a restore option. This process is useful if Norton has flagged a file as a false positive, meaning it was mistakenly identified as a threat. After releasing, you may need to perform an Installation Repair on TempoWeave.
AVAST: You may need to Temporarily disable Avast before you do the install/update. If you need the executable (.exe file), contact us for a link.
To temporarily disable Avast antivirus and firewall protection on your computer to install applications, do the following:
Right-click the Avast icon
in the System Tray. This is located in the lower-right corner of the desktop. If you do not see the icon, click the arrow button at the edge of the System Tray to expand the Tray and display all the icons.
Navigate to "Settings", then under "Protection", toggle the slider for "Core Shields" to the left to disable virus protection.
Disable the firewall by accessing the "Firewall" section within the settings and choose to disable it, usually with a toggle switch, remembering to confirm your choice when prompted.
Confirm your choice by opening the Avast user interface. If it is red and says all antivirus shields are off you have disabled it. Note: with some versions of Avast, you may also have to later release TempoWeave from quarantine. To release a file from Avast's Quarantine, open the Avast application, navigate to the Quarantine (or Virus Chest) section, select the file(s) you wish to restore, click the "More options" (three dots) button, and then choose an action like "Restore" to move it back to its original location or "Create exceptions & restore" to restore and add it to your exceptions list, preventing future scans from blocking it. After releasing, you may need to perform an Installation Repair on TempoWeave.
Other Anti-virus may have similar options. If you're still having issues after following the instructions above, contact our support and we'll assist..
