Settings (default start-up options)

Start up options for Shafts, Treadles, Overlay, Zoom, Units of Measure, and More

Settings allow weavers to customize TempoWeave to suit their preferences. The Settings screen contains two tabs: Default Settings and Active Settings.

Default Settings affect how TempoWeave opens the next time it is launched; changes made here do not alter the current session.

Active Settings take effect immediately and apply to the current session.

Use the scroll bar on the right to view and access all available settings.

Startup Options

Load a Draft on Startup

When Load a Draft on Startup is not checked, no draft will be loaded. The weaver can either select New (to open a draft with default shafts and treadles) or open an existing draft.

When Load a Draft on Startup is checked, you may choose one of the following options:

Open Default Project is Selected

If there is no default project selected, an empty WIF will be opened with the default shaft and treadle options.

If there is a draft in the Default Project field, that draft will be opened.

Use Browse to choose a default project. The Clear button removes the selected default project.

Reload Last Project is Selected

Reopens the most recent draft that was open in TempoWeave when the application was last closed.

View Options

These options are default settings for the View Menu, as well as the Yarn Catalog.

View Options for Drawdown

Startup View Options

  • Show Yarn Catalog When selected, the Yarn Catalog opens automatically in the drawdown window at startup.

  • Initial Drawing Tool Select the drawing tool that will be active when TempoWeave opens. The most commonly used option is Straight.

  • Use GPU-Accelerated 3D View Enables hardware acceleration for the 3D view. Unless you are running on older hardware, this setting provides improved performance and a smoother 3D viewing experience.

View Style Options

These style options are defaults set at startup; these options may be changed on the view menu during at any time for the current session.

  • Show Interlacement When enabled, the drawdown window displays a more realistic interlacement appearance.

  • Numeric Tie-Up When unchecked, tie-up cells are displayed as boxes. When checked, tie-up cells display numeric values.

  • Grayscale Drawdown When unchecked, warp and weft colors are shown in the drawdown. When checked, the drawdown uses grayscale values based on relative color intensity.

  • Grayscale Palette When unchecked, the palette displays colors. When checked, the palette shows relative grayscale values instead of color.

  • Show Thickness When unchecked, all warp and weft threads appear with uniform width in the drawdown window. When checked, thread widths reflect the specified thickness settings.

Warp Style

  • Block / Numeric / Color - These settings show the threads as blocks, numbers or warp colored blocks.

  • Visible - the entire threading can be hidden to maximize space for the drawdown and treadling sequence.

Weft Style

  • Block / Numeric / Color - These settings show the threads as blocks, numbers or weft colored blocks.

Grid Overlay Defaults

Grids may be set in the Drawdown, Warp, Tie-up and Weft. The overlay color is the grid line color.

Default settings will apply to new projects as they are created. The grid overlay settings may be changed for any draft in Project Setup

The Grid settings overlays impact the grid lines shown while designing, as well as the printouts for Threading, Treadling and TIe-Up. Print (formatted reports)
