Project Setup
Shown on Project Information
When starting a new draft, certain values in the Project Setup for that draft are inherited from the Settings that are defined for the TempoWeave Studio application: The Project Setup screen for inherits some values from the Settings menu for TempoWeave: Settings (default start-up options). These settings include Default Unit of Measurement and Default Grid Overlay options.
Shaft and Treadle Options
The current WIF shafts and treadles is set on the first tab of the Project Information selection. The number of shafts and treadles initially defaults to the settings under Settings (default start-up options)
The Multi-Treadle option, if checked, allows selection of more than one treadle to be pressed on any pick in the weft. For lift plans, this is box is always checked. When weaving with a tie-up, if you don't require pressing more than one treadle at a time (such as with a skeleton tie-up), leave the setting unchecked for easier entry of the treadling sequence as the cursor will advance to the next pick after each number is keyed or selection is clicked.
Density (Sett)
The top right box on the Project Setup allows you to select the Sett (ends per inch or ends per centimeter) and Beat (picks per inch or picks per centimeter). These values default to 12. It is recommended that they entered early in the design of any weaving project as these values are used by many features to calculate width and length.
Default Yarn Thickness
Under thread density options, the Default yarn thickness is sett. The default for more weaving software is a "4". Also the weaving software standards have the thickness values range from 1 to 16, with 1 being the smallest and 16 being the largest diameter. TempoWeave can use the thickness in the drawdown and view options to have a more realistic rendering of the cloth that has yarns of varying thickness.
Floating Selvedge
Floating selvedges may be designated by checking the Right and or Left checkbox. If double floating selvedges are used (meaning two threads instead of one), them Double box may be checked.
Floating Selvages impact the quantity of Warp Yarn used in the Project calculations. A think box around the right and/or left threads in the threading indicate that there is a floating selvage. The warp winding plan printout also indicates if there is a floating selvage. For more information, see Floating Selvedge
Reed Information
The reed information may be defined on the Project Setup screen, or under the Reed Calculator on the Project menu. See UPDATE THIS link for details.
Note that even if designing in Imperial, the selected reed may be Metric (available on the Reed Calculator button) so the appropriate conversions for unit of measure are maintained. The same goes for Designing in Metric and using a reed in dents per inch.
Raddle Information
The Raddle Informatio may be selected on the Project Setup screen, or under the Reed Calculator on the Project menu. See UPDATE THIS link for details.
Unit of Measure
Set the Unit of Measure as Imperial (inches, yards) or Metric (centimeters, meters) so that measurements throughout the project will reflect the system being used.
Grid Overlay
Grid overlay default settings are maintained in the TempoWeave application setup Settings (default start-up options). These options can also be changed for a project. Often projects with higher numbers of shafts, or certain treadling or threading patterns will benefit from a different setting. If the boxes are unchecked, grid lines will not appear in the area (drawdown, tie-up, warp or weft). These grid settings also apply to the printouts, as well as the screens when designing.
The grid lines in the drawdown are thin, and appear thicker in the printouts. The following snipped form a 16-shaft threading printout is shown with the above settings:
