# Setup for the Project and Choosing the Yarn Palette

### Step 1  - Set Shafts and Treadles

1. Click the New Draft Icon (or File New)
2. Click Project, then Project Info
3. On the Setup Tab, Change Shafts and Treadles to 4 and 4 respectively.  Also click on Floating Selvedges for right and left.
4. Click Apply and Close on the Project Info Screen.

### Step 2 - Set the Yarn Catalog (and figure out Sett)

1. Suppose you want to weave with Lofty 8/2 Cotton.   First clear the Palette by going to the Yarns Menu and click Clear Palette.
2. Click Yarn Catalog. Select the LoftyFiber, then the Lofty 8/2 Yarn Line. With the line selected, Click Copy to Palette Icon (the middle icon, hover to see description).  Alternatively, right click on the Yarn Line and choose Copy to Palette.
3. Close the Yarn Catalog Panel by clicking the "X" in the upper right corner.
4. Hover over the yarns in the palette and observe the color names. Select any color and choose the Edit Icon (or use Right Click and select Edit).   Look at the Sett Recommendations.   Twills use the Close Sett recommendation (24 for 8/2 Cotton).
5. Click Ok to Close the Edit Yarn Panel.

### Set 3 - Update Sett and Determine Number of Warp and Weft Ends Required

1. Click Project and Project Info.  On the Setup Tab, change the Sett and Beat to 24 epi, 24 ppi.
2. Let's assume we'll have 1-inch of draw-in and 9% shrinkage.  Enter these values in Calculation Drivers. Draw-in and shrinkage help with the calculations of the width and length that need to be produced to obtain the size needed.  The other calculation drivers help fine tune the yardage requirements.  We'll ignore those for now and address those later in this tutorial.
3. Click the Planning Tab.  Locate the Green panel on the right, Target Finished Size Calculator.  Type in the finished width of 16 and finished length of 26. Observe the output under the heading "Required for Target".  It shows that you need 18.53" in the reed (confirm that your chosen loom can weave this width), 445 warp ends and 680 picks per towel.
