# TempoTreadle 3(Beta)— Quick Start

## Connect Your Tablet or Phone to TempoTreadle 3

Simple steps to get your iPad, iPhone, or Android device talking to your TempoTreadle 3 box. You only do this once — after that, it reconnects by itself.

### Before You Start

* **Get the app:**
  * **iPad / iPhone**: install **TempoWeave** from the **App Store**.
  * **Android**: install **TempoWeave** from the **Google Play Store**.
* **Know your home Wi-Fi name and password.** The box uses **2.4 GHz Wi-Fi** — nearly every home router has it. (Details: Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz guide.)

### Step 1 — Turn On the Box

1. Press the **red button** once (or plug in the USB-C cable).
2. Wait for the logo, then the status screen.
3. The box's screen shows its own network name, like **TempoTreadle-A1B2** (the last 4 characters are unique to your box). You may need it below.

> **Screen dark?** That's normal battery saving — tap either button to wake it.

### Step 2 — Run Setup in the App

1. **Open a draft** in TempoWeave (any draft is fine for setup).
2. Tap **Tools → ASSISTANTS → Weave Assistant…**
3. Tap the **⚙ (Settings)** gear, then the **TempoTreadle** section.
4. Tap **Setup…** — the guided wizard starts.
5. If the wizard asks you to join the box's own Wi-Fi first:

   * **iPhone / iPad**: Settings → **Wi-Fi** → tap the network matching the box's screen (e.g. **TempoTreadle-A1B2**) → password **`weaveon123`** → **Join**. If a window pops up, tap **"Stay on the TempoTreadle network"**, then **Done**. If asked, choose **"Use Without Internet."**

   * **Android**: Settings → **Wi-Fi** → tap the box's network → password **`weaveon123`** → **Connect**. If asked *"This network has no internet. Stay connected?"* tap **Stay connected**.

   * Then return to the TempoWeave app.

   > **"No internet" is normal!** Your device is talking directly to the box, not to the internet. Nothing is wrong.
6. In the wizard, **pick your home Wi-Fi** from the list and enter its password. The box restarts and joins your network; the wizard fills in the box's address for you.
7. Make sure your device is back on your **home Wi-Fi**, then tap **Connect**. The status turns green, and the box's screen shows the app's name when they're connected.
8. Tap **Done** and weave — press a treadle and watch the Weave Assistant advance.

### No Home Wi-Fi? Connect Directly (Works Anywhere)

At a guild meeting or retreat, skip the wizard and talk straight to the box:

1. Do **Step 1**, then join the box's Wi-Fi as in **Step 2.5** above.
2. In **Weave Assistant → ⚙ → TempoTreadle**, set **Box address** to **`192.168.7.1`** and tap **Connect**.\
   \&#xNAN;***Note:** while on the TT3's built-in Wi-Fi, your device has no internet through Wi-Fi. Phones and cellular tablets will usually still reach the internet over cellular data; Wi-Fi-only tablets won't have internet until you rejoin your regular network. Weaving with the box is unaffected either way.*

### Every Time After

Nothing to set up. Open the Weave Assistant, tap **⚙ → TempoTreadle → Connect** (the address is remembered). Your device and the box just need to be on the **same Wi-Fi network** — the box's screen shows which network it's on.

### If Something Doesn't Work

| Problem                                               | Fix                                                                                                                                                                                    |

| Wizard can't find the box                             | Make sure the box is on and nearby; check its screen is awake; tap Setup… again.                                                                                                       |
| The box's own Wi-Fi doesn't appear in your Wi-Fi list | The box is probably already on your home Wi-Fi (its screen shows which). To put it back on its own network, **hold the gray button for 2 seconds** — it restarts on TempoTreadle-XXXX. |
| Your home network isn't in the wizard's list          | It's likely 5 GHz-only — see the 2.4 GHz guide.                                                                                                                                        |
| Box joined Wi-Fi but won't connect                    | Confirm your device is on the **same network** as the box (not cellular, not a guest network).                                                                                         |
| Screen is dark                                        | Normal battery saving — tap either button to wake it.                                                                                                                                  |
