I can't draw with the selected color

You have the straight draw tool selected, you've clicked on a palette to select a color, start drawing in the color bar and nothing happens...

Check to see if you are accidentally in color pattern mode. If you see this on the right side of your palette, that's the problem:

To exit Color Pattern draw, go into repeats and click the Color Pattern icon to turn it off.
