License Activation

TempoWeave Studio uses a hybrid-subscription-based licensing model. When you first install the application, it runs in Demo mode. After purchasing a subscription, you activate your license to unlock the features included with your tier. For TempoWeave Studio Pro, once you purchase it, all of the Core features are yours perpetually. If you decide you don't want the renew the free 1-year Pro subscription that was included in your purchase, you simply need to go to your Account Settings and Cancel your Pro Subscription before it renews. If the subscription is cancelled, at the end of the term your license will revert to Core Tier.


How to Tell Which Tier You're On

Features that aren't available in your current tier appear dimmed (greyed out) in the ribbon. You can see them and read their tooltips, but clicking them won't do anything until you upgrade.

Your current license status is shown in the License dialog (Help tab > License).


Purchasing a Subscription

Subscriptions are available through our online store powered by FastSpring at https://www.tempoweave.com/arrow-up-right. When you complete your purchase, you'll receive two emails:

  • A confirmation email with your order details

  • A Subscription ID — this is what you'll use to activate TempoWeave Studio

Keep your confirmation email safe. If you ever need to reactivate on a new computer or after reinstalling, you'll need your Subscription ID.


Activating Your License

Open the License dialog from the Help tab on the ribbon and click License.

This is the quickest way to activate:

  1. Open the License dialog (Help tab > License)

  2. Paste your Subscription ID from your purchase confirmation email

  3. Click Validate

TempoWeave Studio will contact the licensing server, verify your subscription, and activate your license immediately. You'll see your name, email, subscription status, and renewal date displayed in the dialog.

Manual Activation

If you've been provided a license code directly (for example, from customer support):

  1. Open the License dialog

  2. Switch to the Manual tab

  3. Enter your email address and license code

  4. Click Activate

Lookup (Lost Your Subscription ID?)

If you can't find your Subscription ID:

  1. Open the License dialog

  2. Click Lookup

  3. Enter your email address and the approximate order date

TempoWeave Studio will search for your subscription and help you reactivate.


Subscription Status

Your subscription can be in one of these states:

  • Active — Your subscription is current and all features for your tier are available. Shown with a green indicator.

  • Deactivated — Your subscription has been paused or deactivated. You can reactivate through the FastSpring customer portal.

  • Canceled — Your subscription has been canceled. Features remain available until your current billing period ends, then the app reverts to Demo mode.

  • Unlicensed — No license has been entered. The app runs in Demo mode.


Pro Subscription Renewal

TempoWeave Studio subscriptions renew automatically through FastSpring. You don't need to do anything — your license stays active as long as your subscription is current.

The app periodically verifies your subscription status in the background (approximately once a month). This happens silently and doesn't interrupt your work.

If your subscription lapses, you'll still have access to all the features listed above in Core. You can always renew your subscription at a later time. You still still get updates to all existing Core features.


Managing Your Subscription

To manage your subscription — update payment details, view invoices, pause, or cancel — click the Manage Subscription button in the License dialog. This opens the FastSpring customer portal in your web browser, where you have full control over your account.


Moving to a New Computer

To use TempoWeave Studio on a new computer:

  1. Install TempoWeave Studio on the new machine

  2. Open the License dialog

  3. Enter your Subscription ID and click Validate

Your subscription is tied to your account, not to a specific computer, so you can activate on your new machine right away.


Upgrading from Core to Pro

If you're currently on Core and want to upgrade to Pro:

  1. Visit the TempoWeave Studio store or contact us for upgrade options

  2. Once your subscription is updated, open the License dialog in TempoWeave Studio

  3. Click Validate to refresh your license

Your Pro features will be available immediately — no need to reinstall or restart.


Clearing Your License

If you need to remove your license from a computer (for example, before selling or giving away the machine):

  1. Open the License dialog

  2. Click Clear License

This reverts the app to Demo mode and removes your license information from that computer.


Troubleshooting & Other

"My subscription shows as Deactivated" This usually means a payment issue. Visit the FastSpring customer portal (click Manage Subscription in the License dialog) to check your payment method and update it if needed.

"Features are still greyed out after activating" Make sure you activated with the correct subscription tier. Core and Pro unlock different feature sets. Check the License dialog to confirm which tier is active.

"I can't connect to the licensing server" TempoWeave Studio needs an internet connection to validate your subscription. If you're offline, the app will use your last successful validation. As long as your subscription is current, brief periods without internet won't affect your access.

"I reinstalled and lost my license" Simply re-enter your Subscription ID in the License dialog. Your subscription is still active — you just need to tell the app about it again.

If you decide you want a full refund of TempoWeave Studio (including the core) you'll still be able to open and view your drafts, but saving, exporting, and printing will be restricted until you purchase a new copy of TempoWeave Studio.
