# 3D Interlacement

3D Interlacement shows a close-up three-dimensional view of how warp and weft threads physically cross over and under each other at a specific area of your draft. While the drawdown shows the weave structure as a flat grid, 3D Interlacement reveals the actual thread paths — helping you understand the physical construction of the cloth.

### Opening 3D Interlacement

* **Ribbon**: View tab > 3D Interlacement
* **Menu** (macOS): View > 3D Interlacement

The view renders the area around your current selection in the drawdown. If no selection is active, it uses a default region near the center of the draft.

Available to Core and Pro tiers.

### The 3D View

The dialog shows a rendered section of your cloth with threads displayed as three-dimensional shapes that weave over and under each other. Warp threads run vertically and weft threads run horizontally, with each thread rendered in its assigned color and at its assigned thickness.

The title bar shows the size of the rendered area (e.g., "3D Interlacement View (20 x 20 threads)").

### Controls

#### Camera

* **Arrow Keys** or **Click and Drag** — Rotate the view to examine the interlacement from different angles
* **Scroll Wheel** — Zoom in and out
* **Plus / Minus** — Zoom in and out

#### Options

* **Show Interlacement** — Toggles the over-under shading effect on threads
* **Proportional** — Scales thread sizes based on EPI/PPI settings

### When to Use It

* **Learning** — Understanding how a particular weave structure works at the thread level
* **Troubleshooting** — Checking that threads interlace correctly, especially in complex structures like double cloth
* **Teaching** — Demonstrating weave construction to students

### Tips

* Select a small, interesting area of your draft before opening 3D Interlacement — a region where the weave structure changes (like a block boundary) is especially informative
* Rotate the view to see the cloth from the side — this clearly shows how threads lift over and tuck under each other
