The **Cut** feature works on selected threads. For the selection, clicking **Cut** (or using the keyboard short cut **Ctrl+X or ⌘X**), cuts out the selected are and collapses the space.
If **Shift** is held while clicking **Cut,** the space is left open.
*Note - the Delete key (or FN+Delete on a Mac) may be used instead of the Cut function.*
