File New opens a new weaving design window using the number of shafts, treadles (or liftplan) as defined [i](https://docs.tempoweave.com/documentation-by-menu-function/home/settings)n [settings-app-defaults-and-options](https://docs.tempoweave.com/help-by-menu-tabs/file-menu/settings-app-defaults-and-options "mention")

The number of shafts, treadles, tie-up or liftplan and view options may be changed in the Project Menu [project-setup](https://docs.tempoweave.com/help-by-menu-tabs/project-menu/project-information/project-setup "mention")
